This hamster IgG2 monoclonal antibody was generated against DNA coding for murine IL-15 in a baculovirus vector. The antibody recognizes protein p25 an occlusion-derived virus envelope protein (Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus) on the baculovirus surface.
The baculoviruses are a family of large rod-shaped viruses that can be divided to two genera: nucleopolyhedroviruses (NPV) and granuloviruses (GV). While GVs contain only one nucleocapsid per envelope, NPVs contain either single (SNPV) or multiple (MNPV) nucleocapsids per envelope. The enveloped virions are further occluded in granulin matrix in GVs and polyhedrin for NPVs. Moreover, GV have only single virion per granulin occlusion body while polyhedra can contain multiple embedded virions.

Western Blot: Approximately 1x108 baculovirus particles per lane of a 12% SDS Mini-gel with 2-mercaptoethanol.Transfer to Hybond ECL Nitrocellulose MembraneBiotinylated MKBac1-65.2 at 14ug/mL, detection with Streptavidin-HRP. Band is very strong at 25kd.
Cell surface staining: SF9 insect cells infected at MOI of ~1 to 3. Staining of cells on Day 3 post-infection with direct PE-MKBac1-65.2 conjugate, at 40ug/mL to 5ug/mL in 2-fold dilutions. Analysis on BD FacsCalibur shows a biphasic staining pattern with both intermediate and high staining.
