Anti-Prothrombin [29J3-62] Antibody

This mouse monoclonal antibody (clone 29J3-62) is specific for human prothrombin. 29J3-62 has a high affinity for both soluble prothrombin and prothrombin bound to phospholipid or apoptotic cells, and represents a prototype for a phospholipid-independent antiphospholipid antibody.

Highlights:

  • Shows high affinity for soluble prothrombin
  • Also reacts with prothrombin bound to phospholipid or apoptotic cells
  • Shown to enhance binding of prothrombin to apoptotic cells
  • Acts as an antiphospholipid antibody that can bind to prothrombin in the absence or presence of phospholipid
  • Possesses lupus anticoagulant activity - useful as positive control in in vitro coagulation assays

?Hemostasis following tissue injury involves the deployment of essential plasma procoagulants (prothrombin and factors X, IX, V and VIII), which mediate a blood coagulation cascade that leads to the formation of insoluble fibrin clots and the promotion of platelet aggregation. Proteolytic cleavage of prothrombin (factor II) leads to formation of thrombin, which activates factors V, VII, VIII and XIII in complex with thrombomodulin and protein C. Thrombin maintains vascular integrity during development and postnatal life and coordinates connective tissue proteins by stimulating fibroblast procollagen production.
