This IgG1 mouse mononoclonal antibody was generated against the cytoplasmic domain of human LRP6 and is reactive against human, mouse, and rat LRP6.
Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6) is a member of the low density lipoprotein receptor gene family (LDLR). LRP6 a cell surface protein, plays a critical role in embryonic development by functioning as a co-receptor specifically for the ß-catenin Wnt signaling pathway. LRP6 is highly homologous and presents itself as a dimer in the cell membrane until it is phosphlorylated by Wnt. When LRP6 binds to Wnt, it phosphorylates Wnt at multiple sites, which results in the recruitment of the scaffolding protein Axin to the cell membrane and ß catenin activation. LRP6 is the receptor for a novel Wnt antaganoist, DKK1. LRP6 is associated with autosomal dominant coronary artery disease type 2 and bone formation, as well as many human malignancies.
