Violacein

Violacein, isolated from a non-pathogenic, psychrotolerant microorganism.

Violacein is a natural purple pigment found in microorganisms living in unique environments, from the tropic to glaciers. It acts as a natural defense system against other organisms, including amoebas, bacteria and parasites. In addition to the pigment properties of violacein, it has been demonstrated that this bio-compound exhibits several other interesting properties such as antimicrobial, antiparasitic and antitumoral activities.
