This rabbit polyclonal antibody was generated against C-terminal 6xHis-tagged full length protein and is specific for Saccharomyces cerevisiae eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2).
Highlights
Elongation factors are proteins used in translation or protein synthesis during the process of cell cycle and elongation in some cells. In the ribosome, they facilitate translational elongation, from the formation of the first peptide bond to the formation of the last one. Specifically, elongation factor 2 catalyzes the GTP-dependent ribosomal translocation step during translation elongation. During this step, the ribosome changes from the pre-translocational (PRE) to the post-translocational (POST) state as the newly formed A-site-bound peptidyl-tRNA and P-site-bound deacylated tRNA move to the P and E sites, respectively. eEF2 catalyzes the coordinated movement of the two tRNA molecules, the mRNA and conformational changes in the ribosome.
