This mouse IgM monoclonal antibody [42/114] was generated against AKR K36 and AKR SL3 leukemia and is specific for rat murine leukemia virus (MuLV) transmembrane protein.
Highlights:
Murine leukemia viruses also known as MuLVs are retroviruses named for their ability to cause cancer in mouse hosts. They have multiple applications including gene therapy, cancer studies, as a model for retroviruses in viral clearance studies and also can used in biotechnology for reverse transcriptase.

Original characterization of antibodies was done by ammonium sulphate precipitations followed by radioimmunoprecipitation assays.
Immunoprecipitation
Precipitation of intact virions with 44-114 antibody. Supernatants from NIH 3T3 cells infected with MuLV were immunoprecipitated in presence (+) and absence (-) of of NP-40 with 20u/mL of antibody. Precipitates were analyzed by SDS-Page and autoradiography. TM refers to the transmembrane subunit of Env. p15E and CA refers to the MuLV capsid protein, p30.
