CMGD-2 is a canine melanoma cell line derived from an oral tumor of a 13-year old castrated male mix breed dog.

Malignant melanoma is a type of cancer in dogs that affects pigmented-producing cells known as melanocytes. Most malignant melanomas are diagnosed in the skin and mucocutaneous junctions. They tend to grow extremely fast and are likely to spread to other organs, including the lungs and liver.
