This mouse IgG1 monoclonal antibody (clone 129A11) was generated against virus and is specific for the Neuraminidase protein of influenza B Panama/45/90.
Influenzavirus B is a genus in the virus family Orthomyxoviridae. Influenza B viruses are only known to infect humans and seals. This limited host and range is apparently responsible for the lack of Influenzavirus B-caused influenza pandemics, in contrast with those caused by the morphologically similar Influenzavirus A. Viral neuraminidase is found on the surface of influenza viruses, and enables the virus to be released from the host cell. Neuraminidases are enzymes that cleave sialic acid groups from glycoproteins and are required for influenza virus replication.
