Human Bronchial Epithelial Cell Line (BEAS-2B)

BEAS-2B cell line was derived from normal bronchial epithelium obtained from autopsy of non-cancerous individuals.

Highlights:

  • Can be used for screening chemical and biological agents inducing or affecting differentiation and/or carcinogenesis
  • Capable to study pneumococcal infection mechanisms

Bronchial epithelial cells are isolated from epithelial lining of airways above bifurcation of the lungs. They are considered part of the lolwer respiratory tract that includes the larynx, lungs, bronchioles and trachea.
