This mouse IgG1k monoclonal antibody was generated against bacterially-purified human endonuclease of open reading frames 2 (ORF2) and is specific for human Long Interspersed Nuclear Element-1 (LINE-1) ORF2.
Highlights:
LINE-1 retrotransposable element ORF2 protein (ORF2p, LINE1 (also L1 and LINE-1) has a reverse transcriptase activity required for target-primed reverse transcription of the LINE-1 element mRNA, a crucial step in LINE-1 retrotransposition. LINE1 also posesses endonuclease activity, allowing for the introduction of nicks in the chromosomal target DNA. The protein cleaves DNA in AT-rich regions between a 5' stretch of purines and a 3' stretch of pyrimidines, corresponding to sites of LINE-1 integration in the genome.
