This rabbit polyclonal antibody was generated against purified Bacillus subtilis GTP-sensing transcriptional pleiotropic repressor CodY and is specific for CodY from B. subtilis.
Highlights:
CodY (VEG286B) is a DNA-binding protein found in most low G+C Gram-positive bacteria that activates the expression of some genes that support rapid growth and represses the expression of many genes that are only induced as cells make the transition from rapid exponential growth to stationary phase and sporulation. It is activated as a DNA-binding protein by interaction with a branched-chain amino acid (isoleucine or leucine or valine) and GTP; these metabolites serve as indicators of nutritional sufficiency for rapid growth. As the concentrations of the metabolites drop, CodY loses its ability to bind DNA as either a negative or positive regulator.
