Dr. Gundry’s lab focuses on discoveries of the human heart. Through a deeper understanding of the molecules present in the human heart and how they change in disease, their goal is to provide better insights into disease processes and reveal untapped therapeutic targets. The research group is also developing new tools and reagents to promote the use of stem cell technologies for improved drug testing and disease modeling. Some of the innovative techniques Dr. Gundry’s lab develops and applies are mass spectrometry (MS) technologies, bioinformatics tools, and methodologies to transform their understanding of cell surface glycoproteins and glycans and answer outstanding questions in stem cell biology and cardiac physiology & disease.
