Dr. Nagamoto-Combs' recent research has focused on molecular and cellular events in the nervous system that are triggered by inflammatory conditions. Characterization of microglia phenotypes in homeostatic and pathological processes may provide insight into the roles these central immune cells play in health as well as in disease. Potential interactions of microglia with the peripheral immune cells and behavioral consequences of neuroinflammation are currently under investigation in her laboratory.
