The Srivastava laboratory is developing methods for precise gene integrations, multigene transformation and gene stacking in the plant genome. These methods allow site-specific gene integration and removal of selection marker genes towards developing precise transgene site without the presence of marker genes or vector DNA. Site-specific placement of transgenes on the chromosome is desirable for preserving the genome integrity and for rapidly transferring multiple genes as a single locus into diverse crop varieties.
