This IgG2b mouse antibody was generated against the C-terminus of human Cytokeratin 8 (amino acids 472-483) and is reactive against human Cytokeratin 8.
Cytokeratin 8 is one member of a diverse group of proteins called intermediate filament proteins. These proteins are often expressed in pairs. Cytokeratin 8 pairs with Cytokeratin 18 to form a component of the cytoskeleton in simple epithelial cells. It is present on the surface of intact hepatocytes, hepatocellular carcinoma cells, and breast cancer cells. This monoclonal antibody is specific to Cytokeratin 8 and can therefore identify cells of these types.

CK 8 specificity of antibody 1E8.
BT20 whole cell lysate (100 μg) was subjected to Western blot analysis using the well characterized CK 8-specific antibody, PCK-26, and the newly generated antibody, 1E8. Molecular mass standards (in-kDa) are shown.
