Anti-Ecdysteroid E/20E Antibodies and Antigens

These rabbit polyclonal antibodies were generated against BSA conjugated ecdysteroids E and 20E and, in combination with BLG-conjugated ecdysteroids E and 20E, allow for a fast, accurate and low-cost means to measure titers for ecdysone (E) and 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E).

Highlights:

  • EAB25 is specific for 20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E) and should be purchased with the 20E-BLG conjugate, which is used to coat the assay plate
  • EAB27 recognizes both ecdysone (E) and 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E), and somewhat makisterone A and can be used with either E-BLG or 20E-BLG to coat plates
  • Neither antiserum recognizes 7-dehydrocholesterol
  • Ecdysone (E)-Bovine beta lactoglobulin (BLG) or 20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E)-BLG conjugates, for use with enzyme immunoassay
  • Suitable for enzyme immunoassay (See: Protocol); Not suitable for immunocytochemistry or western blots

Ecdysteroid hormones regulate several aspects of insect development and reproduction. The predominant ecdysteroids produced by insects including mosquitoes are ecdysone (E) and 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E). The ability to measure E and 20E titers is essential for many studies. These antibodies BLG-conjugated antigens allow for a fast, accurate and low-cost means to measures titers for ecdysone (E) and 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E).

Comments
Antisera EAB25 and EAB27 were produced to ecdysone (E) conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA) or to 20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E) conjugated to BSA, so they should not be used in an enzyme immunoassay with BSA.
