Macrophage cell line isolated from bone marrow in FVBN mice after immortalization with a retrovirus (J2) containing the myc and v-raf oncogenes.
FVBN mice are also referred to as Friend Virus B NIH Jackson, FVBN are a widely used multipurpose inbred strain and can reproduce a larger litter size. These mice are used for transgenic injection and are homozygous for the retinal degeneration 1 allele of Pde6brd1, resulting in blindness by wean age.
