This mouse IgG2ak monoclonal antibody was raised against bacterially expressed C-terminal half of human (Rab interacting lysosomal protein) RILP and recognizes human RILP.
Highlights:
Rabs are a large family of small GTPases best known for their involvement in intracellular membrane trafficking. When activated, Rabs recruit their effectors to membrane compartments to exert diverse functions such as sorting of cargo into budding vesicles, vesicle movement along the cytoskeleton and tethering and fusion to target membranes. Functional impairments of Rabs or their accessory proteins are manifested in a range of diseases including neurological disorders and diabetes as well as in infectious diseases . RILP (Rab interacting lysosomal protein) was first identified as a Rab7 effector. By binding to the dynein motor complexes, RILP promotes microtubule-mediated transport of Rab7-positive late endosomes and lysosomes away from the cell periphery and toward the nucleus. Interestingly, RILP also acts as an effector for the predominantly Golgi-localized Rab34. The Rab34/RILP association, which presumably is taking place at the Golgi appears to control the distant lysosomal distribution. Important note: several lines of publicly available data indicate low and very restricted expression of RILP in immortalized cell lines as well as in tissues.
