Goat Anti-GFAP Antibody

This goat IgG polyclonal antibody was generated against peptide sequence CDGEVIKESKQEHKD from the C terminus of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and recognizes human, mouse, and rat GFAP.

Highlights:

  • Reacts with human, mouse, and rat GFAP
  • Suitable for Peptide ELISA and Western Blot applications
  • Mutations in the GFAP gene are associated with Alexander disease and Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Type Xvi

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is a class-III intermediate filament. It is one of the major intermediate filament proteins of mature astrocytes, and although it's function is not fully understood, it is believed to be involved in controlling the shape, movement, and function of astrocytes. Mutations in the GFAP gene are associated with Alexander disease and Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Type Xvi.
