Annexin A1 (ANXA1) is a phospholipid-binding protein expressed in many tissues including leukocytes, lymphocytes, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. ANXA1 is present intracellularly and at the membrane, but can also be secreted. ANXA1 plays an important role in the innate immune response and is a potent endogenous anti-inflammatory mediator.
