This hybridoma line produces a mouse anti-human RNA polymerase II monoclonal antibody (clone MARA 3) recognizing the C-terminal domain of RNA polymerase II.
Eukaryotes have three nuclear RNA polymerases (RNAPs) that are DNA-dependent: RNAP I, RNAP II, and RNAP III. RNAP II is responsible for the synthesis of all mRNA. The largest subunit of RNAP II, Rbp1, contains a C-terminal domain (CTD) that is a unique feature of RNAP II. The CTD is highly conserved amongst eukaryotes and plays an important role in all steps of transcription.
