This monoclonal antibody was generated against a recombinant MUC18 (D1-D5) Fc chimeric protein and recognizes human MUC18.
MUC18 (also known as CD146, melanoma cell adhesion molecule or MCAM) is a cell adhesion molecule that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is used as a marker for endothelial cell lineage. MUC18 is overexpressed in certain lesions such as melanoma, where increased expression has been shown to correlate inversely with patient prognosis.
