Turkey satellite cell lines isolated from male birds and the pectoralis major muscle.
Highlights
- RBC2 (Randombred Control Line 2) - This line of satellite cells was isolated from a line of turkeys representing all the commercial turkey lines in 1967. The RBC2 line has been maintained without any conscious selection for any trait. This line of satellite cells is prior to current growth selection.
- F (16 week body weight line F) - The F line turkeys have been selected from the RBC2 line only for increased 16 wk body weight. Thus, genetic differences from the RBC2 line are due to selection for 16 wk body weight and not from genetic background differences.
