These mouse IgG1k & IgG2b,k monoclonal antibodies were generated against recombinant chicken Interferon kappa (IFN-k) and recognize chicken IFN-k.
Highlights:
Interferons (IFNs), a group of signaling proteins (glycoproteins), belong to the larger class of proteins known as cytokines. They play a major role in the early host response against pathogen invasion and their main function is to inhibit viral replication by interrupting the synthesis of viral RNAs and proteins. IFNs are classified as type I, type II, and type III IFNs, based on their functions and binding receptors. Type I IFNs, key mediators of innate and adaptive immune responses against pathogenic infections, are important in inflammation, immunoregulation, tumor cells recognition, and T-cell responses. They include several subclasses, such as, IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-ω, IFN-ε, IFN-κ, and 11 IFN pseudogenes. Chicken IFN-κ seems to have anti-viral properties like those observed with type I IFNs. Due to this high anti-viral potential (important for the development of disease resistance), it may be very useful for further studying its capability to mediate innate immunity.
