THPTA (3 [tris(3-hydroxypropyltriazolylmethyl)amine) is a water-soluble, very effective ligand for copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloadditions (CuAAC).

THPTA serves both to accelerate the CuAAC reaction and to protect the proteins and cells from damage by oxidative agents and Cu(I) during the labeling reaction. THPTA is a superior alternative to water-insoluble TBTA.
