Tissue samples from various organs of C57BL/6 mice. Avaliable in histological tissue section on glass slide (HS) or paraffin-embedded tissue block (PETB) formats. Tissues are from healthy animals, unless otherwise indicated.
The C57BL/6 mouse is the most commonly used inbred mouse strain and the first inbred mouse strain whose genome was fully sequenced. It has a black coat color and melanocytes and melanin-laden macrophages are often found dispersed in various organs (skin, leptomeninges, splenic capsule, etc.). It is widely used in many areas of biomedicine, including developmental biology, diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular biology, genetics, and immunology. Generally, C57BL/6 mice are good breeders, have a long life-span, and are relatively resistant to common (mostly viral) murine pathogens and spontaneous tumors.
