The Park Laboratory uses computational and experimental tools to design protein molecules for use in research, medicine and biotechnology. Most commonly used tools in the lab include homology modeling, rational design, and directed evolution by yeast display. The designed molecules are characterized in vitro using biochemical and biophysical techniques and, where applicable, tested in cellular systems to demonstrate function. The current projects include engineering and application of monomeric streptavidin, monobody and peptide inhibitors, and split inteins.
