This rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody was generated against the GST-ADAM19-cytoplasmic tail and is specific for the cytoplasmic domain of mouse ADAM19.
The ADAM (A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease Domain) family is a unique group of proteins that has the ability to cleave or shed extracellular portions of transmembrane proteins. In addition, ADAMs are involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions (e.g., fertilization, muscle development and neurogenesis).
ADAM19, also known as meltrin ß, was first identified in muscle cells and later expressed in other tissues (e.g. heart, lung and bone). The catalytic activity of ADAM19 has been explored by the overexpression in cells and by purifying recombinantly expressed soluble forms of the ectodomain or the pro- and metalloproteinase domains. ADAM19 has an important role during cardiovascular morphogenesis.
