This rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody was generated against the GST-ADAM28-cytoplasmic tail and is specific for the cytoplasmic domain of mouse ADAM28.
The ADAM (A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease Domain) family is a unique group of proteins that has the ability to cleave or shed extracellular portions of transmembrane proteins. In addition, ADAMs are involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions (e.g., fertilization, muscle development and neurogenesis).
Based on sequence identity, ADAM28 is more closely related to snake venom metalloproteases (SVMPs) than to presently known ADAMs. Northern blot analysis shows that ADAM28 is expressed in the epididymis, suggesting a possible role in sperm maturation, and in the lung. Mature ADAM28 is presumed to be catalytically active and found mainly on the cell surface.

Western Blot Analysis
Western blot of lysates from COS-7 cells transfected with a pcDNA control and wild-type ADAM28 (WT). All samples were reduced with DTT and separated on a 7.5% (w/v) polyacrylamide gel. Proteins were transferred to nitrocellulose and immunoblotted with ADAM28 cytoplasmic domain antiserum.
